| By operating and managing turnaround schools in which previously underserved students achieve extraordinary results, UP will play a critical role in closing the achievement gap at those individual schools.
UP is uniquely positioned to eliminate the achievement gap in additional, system-changing ways.
By partnering with school districts and states, UP will be able to do the following:
- Build bridges among the charter school sector and the district school sector to increase efforts to close the achievement gap in meaningful ways;
- Exert influence on long-standing district and state practices that have restrained student achievement growth for many years; and
- Serve as a model and proof point for other school turnaround efforts in Massachusetts and beyond.
